Yaniv Zohar (Hebrew: יניב זוהר‎‎; died 7 October 2023) was an Israeli videojournalist working for Associated Press and Israel Hayom who was killed during the 2023 Hamas-Israel war by Hamas militants in the Nahal Oz massacre with his wife and two daughters.[1]

Biography[edit]

Zohar worked for the AP's Israel bureau from 2005 to 2020, covering all major news events in the country, most notably on Israeli disengagement from Gaza (2005) and the abduction of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit (2006).[2] He also worked for several years for Israel Hayom daily newspaper. In working for the two news outlets, he was often the first to alert of news events taking place in the Gaza Strip region.[3]

Death[edit]

On 7 October 2023, his home at Nahal Oz was infiltrated by Hamas terrorists. He was killed with his wife Yasmin, daughters Keshet and Tehelet and father-in-law Haim Livne. His 13-year-old son was the sole surviving family member.[4]
