Yaourt is a command line package manager for Arch Linux. It was forked from the pacman package manager and allows access to Arch User Repository (AUR) packages, as well as the official distribution repositories.[3]. Yaourt, created by archlinux.fr, is the french word for yogurt.[4][5][6]

    Overview[edit]

Yaourt supports building packages directly from Arch Build System, and installation from the enabled Arch Linux repositories, as well as AUR.[7] It is one of the most well-known command line tools to manage AUR packages on Arch Linux, and other Arch Linux based distributions like Manjaro.[8] Manjaro's graphical package manager Octopi has integrated support for yaourt using its yaourt tool feature.[9]

There are several alternatives to Yaourt including Pacaur, but Maketecheasier.com recommends Yaourt for new users as it is the "easiest to get running".[10]
