Yawn Mower Ruins Christmas is the second studio EP that is from the American rock band Yawn Mower.

Content[edit]

The five-track EP was released with In the Clouds Records, on 7"-vinyl, on 16 November 2016. It was recorded at Hangar 1 in Lakehurst, New Jersey, and engineered by William Bourke. Photography for Yawn Mower Ruins Christmas is by Dana Yurcisin. The album contains cover versions of "Frosty the Snowman," "Joy to the World," "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town," "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and "Silent Night."[1] It is described as "holiday cheer and punk rock panache," and draws comparison to the music of the punk rock band the Ramones.[2]

Yawn Mower Ruins Christmas was digitally released with Mint 400 Records, on 1 December 2017, and contains two additional tracks, "Feliz Navidad," and a spin on Jimmy Buffett's "Margaritaville," entitled "Christmastime in Margaritaville." Yawn Mower celebrated the reissue on 2 December 2017, at Asbury Park Yacht Club with Dentist and Wetbrain.[3]

Reception[edit]

In a review for The Aquarian Weekly, John Pfiefer describes Yawn Mower Ruins Christmas as "the holiday EP you need when you are late to your family party and battling traffic or just want to start a mosh pit at your grandmother's house." He says "Christmastime in Margaritaville" is "eggnog cocktails and rock salt blend with standard Buffet lyrics, all dressed up in feedback and distortion. This disc is so much fun that you'll want to play it through New Year's Eve and beyond."[2]
