Yetunde Abosede Zaid (born 1969) is a Nigerian librarian, professor, and researcher. Since 2019, she works as the university librarian at the University of Lagos in Akoka-Yaba, Lagos State.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Yetunde Abosede Zaid was born on 22 September 1969 in Lagos State, Nigeria.[citation needed] She attended Aladura Comprehensive High School (1986) for her primary education before proceeding to Aje Comprehensive High School, Yaba (1980–1985).[citation needed] After her secondary education, she gained admission to Ogun State University, Ago Iwoye (1988–1992) for her bachelor of arts degree; and University of Ibadan, Ibadan for her master's degree in library, archival and information studies (1996).[6][7]

Career[edit]

In 1996, Zaid began her career as a Librarian (Corp Member) at the University of Lagos Library in Akoka-Yaba. Upon completion of her compulsory National Youth Service, she worked at a private law firm (JIDE ZAID & CO) as a librarian, between 1997 and 2002.

Zaid has served in various capacities at the University of Lagos Library. She served as the university as head, cataloguing section (2008–2010), research and bibliographic department (2010–2011), head, reader’s services department (2012–2019), before she was appointed the university librarian in 2019.[1][2][8]

Awards and professional membership[edit]

She is a recipient of the African Research Fulbright Scholar program at the James S. Coleman Africa Studies Center, University of California, Los Angeles in May 2017.[9][8] A member of learned professional body such Lagos Studies Association, Nigerian Library Association, Nigerian Association of University Women (NAUW) Lagos chapter, Association of Women Librarians in Nigeria (AWLIN), and International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).[10]
