Yevhen Valentynovych Malyshev (Ukrainian: Євген Валентинович Малишев, 10 March 2002 – 1 March 2022) was a Ukrainian biathlete and soldier who was killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Birth[edit]

Yevhen Malyshev was born in Kharkiv on 10 March 2002.[1][2]

Career[edit]

Between 2018 and 2020 he was a member of the Ukraine junior national team in biathlon. Malyshev retired from biathlon in 2020.[2][3] He enlisted in the armed forces of Ukraine.[3]

Death[edit]

He died on Tuesday, 1 March 2022, in the Battle of Kharkiv, defending his hometown during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[1][2][4] His death was announced by the International Biathlon Union on Twitter, where they also condemned the Russian attacks and the support provided by Belarus.[5]
