yhangry is a British online marketplace that connects customers with private chefs for home dining events.[1] Founded in 2019 by Heinin Zhang and Siddhi Mittal, the company operates in the United Kingdom and the United States.
History and overview
yhangry was founded in 2019 by Heinin Zhang and Siddhi Mittal.[2][3] The company provides an online platform where users can book private chefs, browse profiles, customize menus, and make payments. It launched its website after participating in the Google for Startups Female Founders Residency Program.[4][5]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, yhangry introduced virtual cooking classes and home-delivered meals. In 2020, the company appeared on the BBC television program Dragons' Den, where the founders declined an offer of £100,000.[6][7] Subsequently, yhangry raised £1.1 million from angel investors.[8][9]
In 2021, the company secured $1.5 million in seed funding from investors including Eileen Burbidge, Carmen Rico and Martin Mignot.[10][11][12][13][14] In 2022, yhangry participated in the Y Combinator accelerator program.[15][2]
As of 2022, yhangry had a network of over 1,000 chefs and served over 40,000 guests. The company announced partnerships with short-term rental companies.[16]
