Ying Zhang
Dr.Ying Zhang (born Jan 19, 1982) is an associate dean for China business and relations and a tenured professor in entrepreneurship, innovation, and Chinese economy and business at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.[1] She possesses a cross-disciplinary background in industrial engineering, economics, and management.[1]
Education[edit]
Zhang obtained her Bachelor’s degree at Northwest University in China (2004), where she majored in Information Management and Systems and sub-majored in Computer Science and English-Chinese translation.[2] Afterwards, in 2004, she pursued a Master of Philosophy in Technological Economics and Management at the aforementioned university.[2] Zhang, as followed, pursued her engineering based Master study in Industrial Enginnering (2008) at Eindhoven University of Technology where she majored in industrial engineering and Innovation Management.[2] She earned her joint PhD Degree in 2012 at Eindhoven University of Technology and United Nations University (MERIT), having completed a dissertation on the theme of multilevel approach to entrepreneurship development in China.[2]
Zhang is also interested in traditional Chinese medicine and has researched on this theme at Shenzhou TCM University located in Amsterdam.[2]

Erasmus University[edit]
At Erasmus University, Ying Zhang is the founder and head of Erasmus China Business Center.[1] She is also an Associate Professor on entrepreneurship and innovation at Rotterdam School of Management and the Associate Dean for China Business and Relations.[1] Zhang has previously been the Academic Director for both the Erasmus-Leiden University Chinese Economy and Business Master's program at Rotterdam School of Management and the CKGSB-Erasmus Outbound CEO (NL) Program.[3]
Other Roles[edit]
Aside from her positions at Erasmus University, Ying Zhang has been a visiting research fellow at Harvard Law School and a visiting professor at Harvard Business School.[4] In China, Zhang is an honorary professor at Beijing Jiaotong University[5] and a guest professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics[6].
Apart from educational positions, Ying Zhang is also a strategic advisor at Strategic Swiss Partners[7], an Academic Advisory Board member at Amsterdam School of International Business, a Global Network Partner for GLORAD[8], and a Senior Academic Advisor for Dutch National Framework of the BBA Program International Business in the high education sector.[2] She is the founder and Chairwoman of Identitat Global Forum[9] in Europe and the NewSilkRoad Institute[10] Zhang often participates at educational, political, and industrial forums organized by organizations such as EFMD, SAGE Knowledge[11], TED[12] and the World Economic Forum[9].[1]
In her research, she focuses on both macro- and micro- level analysis.[1] In macroeconomics, Zhang studies circular economy, socio-economic transitions, entrepreneurship development, and the new world order.[1] At the organizational-industrial level, she researches corporate entrepreneurship, globalization paradoxes, and financial technology.[1] Zhang also studies entrepreneurship wellness, where she looks into the human interactive system of entrepreneurial emotion, as well as business education.[1]
