History[edit]
Originally made by RazerMan (xfileFIN) and posted in the comments section of iYTBP (an older mod that was based on an Xposed Framework module), it started as a non-root variant of an adblocker for the stock YouTube app and was able to support login functionality through the use of a modified version of microG (now Vanced microG). On march 4th 2018 Vanced expanded into it’s own thread and became it’s own app unrelated to the previous iYTBP app.
Vanced Manager[edit]
Launched in April of 2020, Vanced Manager is an app used to manage installations of Vanced apps. When Vanced 15.05.54 was first released, it used a new format introduced by google know as split apks[1] which differ from a regular .apk file, because of this, development of a management app began. Currently, Vanced Manager has over 3 million downloads on GitHub[1]
Vanced microG[edit]
Originally released as a mod of microG, Vanced microG was used for account functionality in YouTube Vanced using a standard google account (the root version of Vanced does not require Vanced microG). On September 16th 2020, Vanced microG became fully open-source[2]
SponsorBlock Implementation[edit]
On the 22nd of October 2020, YouTube Vanced added a SponsorBlock implementation[3], which lets users skip sponsor segments inside videos
