YourAnonCentral started on Twitter and is one of the longest-standing nodes for Anonymous communications. Its administrator has been involved in the movement since its inception around 2006 on the anarchic image-board 4chan."[1] According to YourAnonCentral, “Anonymous comes from every part of the political spectrum. The only things we could be all (mostly) aligned on, are against censorship or against human rights violations or similar,”

Purpose, Values and rules[edit]

YourAnonCentral (YAC) states they support the weak against the powerful and stands for justice. The purpose of YAC is primarily focused on promoting, amplifying, and discussing human rights and anti-totalitarianism. They are dedicated to exposing human rights abuses, supporting the weak against the powerful, justice, autonomy, self governance and they seek to end impunity.[2]

They claim their values are the following:[3] - Human rights. - Anti-censorship - Autonomy & self-governance. - Resistance against tyranny. - A more humane society.

The group's few rules include not disclosing one's identity, not talking about the group, and not attacking the media.[4] Members commonly use the tagline "We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us."[5]

YourAnonCentral vs Israel (2014)[edit]

In 2014 YourAnonCentral announced they would hold the Israeli government accountable, in retaliation for Israel's ongoing military intervention in Gaza. "OpSaveGaza" was a YourAnonCentral led campaign targeting Israeli government websites that had succeeded in temporarely taking down the sites of the Israeli defense ministry and the Tel Aviv police department.[6]

YourAnonCentral vs ISIS (2015)[edit]

A group associated with the hackers' collective known as Anonymous announced OpParis, its social media-driven campaign against ISIS just a few days after the terrorist attacks in Paris. "This is only the beginning, ISIS. We will hunt you, take down your sites, accounts, emails and expose you ... You will be treated like a virus and we are the cure," stated a masked activist in a video posted on YouTube. "We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. ISIS, it is too late to expect us."[7]

YourAnonCentral vs Trump (2017)[edit]

YourAnonCentral issued an ominous warning to President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration, telling the billionaire he's going to regret the next four years. "This isn't the 80's any longer, information doesn't vanish, it is all out there. You are going to regret the next 4 years. @realDonaldTrump," reads a tweet from @YourAnonCentral[8], an account used to disseminate information amongt the hacker group. [9] Anonymous said: “We have been watching you for a long time and what we’ve seen is deeply disturbing. You don’t stand for anything but your personal greed and power. “This is a call to arms. Shut down his websites, research and expose what he doesn’t want the public to know. We need you to dismantle his campaign and sabotage his brand.”[10]
