Yousef Kargar (Persian: یوسف کارگر‎, (born 24 April 1985 in Urmia) is an Iranian Director, Scriptwriter and Distributor.

Biography[edit]

Director, screenwriter and producer Yousef Kargar has BA of Persian literature and MA of Cinema. He started his career as a film critic and wrote in publications and internet since 2002. He won some awards for his scripts in national festivals and he made his first short fiction film Requiem for a Night in 2013 and was selected to more than 80 international festivals and won several awards. He made two advertisement short documentary and then in 2015, he made his second short film Elegy that was selected more than 100 international festivals and won about 13 awards. He was awarded as best Iranian youth filmmaker of year in 2016. He attended to talent campus of Fajr Film Festival in 2016. In 2016 and 2017 He was jury member of Povero film festival in Italy. In 2017 he made his third short fiction film The Distance AKA Ara[disambiguation needed] and has been nominated for seven awards in Iranian short film awards and also nominated in four awards in Tehran International short film Festival. The international premiere of that film was in 62nd Cork film festival in Ireland.
