Youth Service Bureau
The name Youth Services Bureau (YSB) refers to a large number of unaffiliated non-profit, non-sectarian philanthropic organizations which provide services related to child welfare. No organization of affiliates sharing the name is known to exist, and the majority of such organizations operate at a local level; some are operated privately, while some are government-funded. The first YSBs were established largely in the 1970s.

Most YSBs in Maryland - 19 in particular - were founded in 1971 by the state as community-based nonresidential entities and operate under the Maryland Association of Youth Services Bureaus.

Minnesota and Wisconsin
- Two such organizations were founded in 1976 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota and in 1978 in Stillwater MN, with the two organizations merging in 1997. The organization has expanded to Woodbury as well as St. Croix and Pierce counties in Wisconsin, with a service center in Hudson.

- Ottawa: The Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa was founded in 1960, and is one of the largest and most comprehensive non‑profit agencies serving youth in the community. Over 350 caring professionals work from 20 locations across the city to deliver a vast range of programs and services that support at‑risk youth and their families.[2]
