Yugesh Baral is a Nepalese search engine optimization (SEO) specialist who works in semantic SEO. Based in Kathmandu, he works as a semantic SEO specialist at the digital marketing agencies One Percent Digital and Enfity.[1][2] He previously worked at the agency RankMeTop from 2024 to 2026,[3][4] and has published articles on LinkedIn about how search engines and AI systems interpret web content.[5][6]

Early life and education

Baral was born in Okhaldhunga, Nepal, and grew up in Sarlahi District, where he spent most of his childhood. He moved to Kathmandu for higher studies and completed his higher secondary education (+2) in science at Himalayan WhiteHouse International College in 2016.

From 2017 to 2022, Baral studied computer engineering at Janakpur Engineering College, a college affiliated with the Institute of Engineering of Tribhuvan University, and graduated with a Bachelor in Computer Engineering.[1]

Career

Baral began working in SEO in 2023 as a part-time freelancer, creating content and building and optimizing small niche websites.

In July 2024, he joined the digital marketing agency RankMeTop[7] as an SEO intern.[3] He was later promoted to SEO executive[8] and then SEO specialist,[4] and served as an SEO team lead from January to July 2026. He left RankMeTop in July 2026.

In July 2026, Baral joined One Percent Digital as a semantic SEO specialist.[1] In August 2026, he also began working as a semantic SEO specialist at Enfity, a digital marketing agency based in Lalitpur that was founded in 2025.[2]

Work

Baral's work focuses on semantic SEO, which optimizes websites around entities, topics and meaning rather than individual keywords. His main areas are topical authority mapping, entity-based optimization, and technical SEO and audits.[1] He also works on local SEO, programmatic SEO, and generative engine optimization, which aims to have content cited in AI-generated answers from systems such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. He studies search-related patents and research papers as part of his work, and has completed courses on topical authority by Koray Tuğberk Gübür and on SEO by Rambabu Thapa.

Writing

In "Content Writing Rules Based on NLP, Query Parsing, and Information Retrieval", published on LinkedIn in February 2026, Baral set out thirteen content-writing principles that he linked to how natural language processing and information retrieval systems parse web pages. They include keeping each page focused on a single topic, attention to word order, specific references to entities and their attributes, and giving a direct answer in the first sentence.[5] A version of the document was also posted on Academia.edu.[9]

In a July 2026 LinkedIn article, Baral summarized a patent titled "Weighted Answer", filed in 2014, describing it as a method that treats the passage following a question phrase on a web page as an answer and scores candidate answers against a search query using weighted keywords. He called the patent "basically the blueprint" for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity.[6]
