Yxngxr1 sometimes stylized as yxngxr1 or YXNGXR1 pronounced Younger-One is a rapper, singer and songwriter from the United Kingdom[2]. Yxngxr1 started his music career on SoundCloud in 2018 with his debut single "siMoN sAys FuRH dIS"[3]. The song where he began getting a bit more attention was a song released in November 2018 named "lon Lil Gut". The song to receive more than 200,000 plays/ views was "old skool vans" released in February 2019; it had accumulated over 300,000 plays on Soundcloud [4]. On the 2nd of September, 2019 yxngxr1 announced the release of his debut album "Childhood Dreams", said to be released on October 20th 2019[5]. On a live stream, yxngxr1 answered a fan who asked how he got to sign with Empire. He responded with that he had been contacted by the label and he had been offered a partnership with them.[6]
Musical career
Yxngxr1 began his musical career with "siMoN sAys FuRH dIS"; it was based on the popular children's game Simon Says, the song didn't get much attention but it didn't discourage yxngxr1 to release another song called "See Mii", which did not get much more attention than the previous song. Both songs received around 19,000 plays on Soundcloud [7]. Both songs had the same type of melodies, a sort of trap mixed with a bass-boost. His next song "BoYourBih" received quite a bit more attention than the last song, receiving over 25,000 plays on SoundCloud[8]. His fourth song "Dua LipMe" (a reference to the British singer Dua Lipa) collected around the same number of plays as "BoYourbih" on Soundcloud[9]. All of the songs were released around the same time. The songs to receive much more attention than "See Mii", "Dua LipMe" etc... Are "Ghost Duet" (65,000 plays), "lon Lil Gut" (168,000 plays) and "Our Hight" (115,000 plays) all released around the same time (some time in November 2018)[10]. The song to receive more than 200,000 plays on Soundcloud was "old skool vans" with over 350,000 plays on Soundcloud, 250,000 views on YouTube and over 740,000 streams on Spotify[11]. But that is only on Soundcloud. On Spotify, yxngxr1 had over 4 million streams for the song "Tyler", the song is a reference to the American rapper Tyler, the creator. Most of his songs on Spotify are the most popular songs taken from his Soundcloud to add on his Spotify. Many of his "popular" songs are produced by a producer called "lil biscuit" [12]
On Instagram, yxngxr1 had teased his followers by posting snippets of unreleased songs that would later be added to his debut studio album "Childhood Dreams"[13]. "Childhood Dreams" was released at midnight, October 20th 2019[14] The album was released with the label Empire and Storm Gvng.[15]
