Złotopolscy (Polish pronunciation: [ˈzłotopolscy], English: Zlotopolskis) is a Polish soap opera that premiered on December 26, 1997, on the public TVP2 channel.[1][2] The series had 15 seasons and 1121 episodes. The show ended on December 25, 2010.

Action[edit]

The story of two branches of the family: Złotopolski and Gabriel. Dionizy Złotopolski and Eleonora Gabriel were siblings who had fought for years. The fates of her children and grandchildren are turbulent, not always happy, but the story is full of optimism and humor. Złotopolski live in the village of Złotopolice, where Dionizy Złotopolski was the head of the village. The urban family line lives in Warsaw. The Gabriels are descended from Eleonora, a twin sister of Dionizy. Eleonora Wiesław’s son is chief of police at the Central Station. His wife Marta runs a luxurious café.

Family Złotopolski[edit]

  • Dionizy Złotopolski and Julia Złotopolska née Kamieniecka (portrayeds by Henryk Machalica and Anna Milewska) - Dionizy was the head of the Złotopolski family, who fought with his twin sister Eleonora, former mayor of Złotopolic. In 1998, he married Julia Kamieniecka, a medical doctor and retired employee of the health centre, die Jugendliebe, for the second time. They have a son named Chris Kamieniecki, born in Nigeria, about whom Dionizy never knew. Dionizy had a son from his first marriage.   • Marek Złotopolski and Barbara Złotopolska, (portrayeds by Kazimierz Kaczor and Anna Nehrebecka) - They have two sons Waldka and Kacper. Marek was a senator, and today he is the mayor of Złotopolic. Barbara ran the foundation. She was mugged. She had a brain tumour, and after a stroke during the seizure, the disease worsened to such an extent that treatment in Poland did not make sense. She died during an operation in Switzerland after a long period of treatment. Later Marek became interested in Magdalena, who worked as a housekeeper at Złotopolski.
  • Waldemar and Marcelina Złotopolscy (portrayeds by Andrzej Nejman and Magdalena Stużyńska/Katarzyna Pierścionek) - Waldek was the eldest son of Barbara and Mark. He was married to Veronica, who was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center. They raised their son and daughter from a previous relationship until their death. He was again involved with Marcysa Biernacka, the daughter of MP Władysław Biernacki. Waldek traveled to Kazakhstan to rescue Andrzej Złotopolski, where he was arrested. He died in a car accident in Lviv. Marcysia studies Marketing and Management. He works at Marty’s cafe. She has eye problems and was undergoing treatment abroad for a long time. They have twin sons Dionizy (Jan Kędzior) and Andrzej (Mateusz Kędzior).
  • Kacper Złotopolski vel Kacper Górniak, (portrayed by Andrzej Piaseczny) - The younger son of Marek and Barbara, known as the singer Kacper Górniak. He’s not lucky with women. For a while he was involved with Maryla Baka (who was married to Tomasz Gabriel) and Aneta Zając. He toured extensively in Poland and abroad, especially in the United States. His career slowed down when he became a gambling addict. During this time he lost all his money, got into debt and had to hide from his creditors and the gangster world. He was in an accident. He fell into a coma from which he was probably woken by Maryna.
  • Weronika Złotopolska first vote Gabriel (portrayed by Agnieszka Sitek) - Waldemar’s first wife, divorced from Miroslaw Gabriel, Elenonora’s grandson, had children from his first marriage, Antoni (Radek Gelber) and Aleksandra (Gabrysia Gelber). Officially, she was killed in a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001.
  • Chris Kamieniecki (portrayed by Piotr Machalica) - the illegitimate son of Julia and Dionizy from the time of their childhood love, born in Nigeria after their separation; Julia told her family only a few years after the death of Dionysius, who had never heard of him.
  • Andrzej and Magdalena Złotopolscy (portrayeds by Andrzej Grabowski and Małgorzata Zajączkowska) - Andrzej is a cousin of Markek's from Kazakhstan, who returned to Poland and married Magdalena after her husband’s fatal accident. He was elected the new mayor of Złotopolic, but went to Kazakhstan, where he was arrested, left Magdalena and renounced his fortune in favor of Waldek. Magdalena married Chris, the son of Julia and Dionysius.
  • Jan Złotopolski (portrayed by Tomasz Ciachrowski) - Great-grandson of Konrad Złotopolski – brother of Dionizy's grandfather. He visited Marcysia Złotopolska to renew family contacts. He believes the family has been punished by God.
  • Zosia Złotopolska (portrayed by Milena Suszyńska) - Sister of Jana. Together with him he lives in Zakroczym and decides to make contact with relatives from Złotopolice.

Family Gabriel[edit]

  • Eleonora Gabriel née Złotopolska (portrayed by Alina Janowska) - Twin sister of Dionizy, widow of a communist, quarreled with Złotopolski over her fortune. He has a son Wieslaw. She is morbidly overprotective, tries to protect her family from problems and often puts her family in even greater trouble. Known for many intrigues. For years she hid letters from Wieslaw’s first wife to him and her biological daughter Agatha. She also hid letters from Mirk, Veronica’s husband, in which he, among other things, approved her divorce. She kidnapped her great-grandchildren Antoni and Aleksandra because she wanted them with her.
  • Wiesław Gabriel and Marta Gabriel, (portrayeds by Paweł Wawrzecki and Ewa Ziętek) - They have two sons: Tomasz and Mirosław. Wiesław also has a daughter from her first marriage to Ilona Clark-Kowalska, Agata (Marta loved her like her own daughter). Wiesiek is the police chief at Warsaw Central Station and Marta runs a café.
  • Tomasz and Maryla Gabriel née Baka (portrayeds by Piotr Szwedes and Anna Przybylska) - Tomasz is a private investigator. Marylka was a police officer at Warsaw Central Station. Eventually she went to London.
  • Mirosław and Janina Gabriel , (portrayeds by Radosław Elis and Monika Stefaniak) - Mirosław is the eldest son of Marta and Wieśka, the first husband of Veronika Złotopolska, father of twins. They also have an adopted teenage daughter named Katarzyna. They have been married since 2002.
  • Katarzyna Gabriel (portrayed by Klaudia Derebecka) - adopted daughter of Mirosław and Janina Gabriel. He’s in the Abitur class.
  • Agata Tulczyńska née Gabriel and Radosław Tulczyński (portrayeds by Paulina Młynarska/Aleksandra Woźniak and Jacek Rozenek) - They married secretly in front of their family because Agatha’s mother Ilona refused to accept their marriage. Agata is a businesswoman and has lived in the USA for 8 years. She used to have a relationship with Maksymilian Grubba. Radek comes from an aristocratic family. He’s a doctor.

  • postman Józef Garliński (portrayed by Jerzy Turek) - postman in Złotopolice and some other villages in the surrounding area, friend of the house of Złotopolskie, godfather of Kacper and little Dionizy, son of Waldek. After years of old cavalry, he tried to marry Julia, the widow of his late friend Dionizy Złotopolski. Before that, he tried to get involved with Elżunia Kleczkowska, to whom he was engaged twice, and once he almost escaped from the altar on their wedding day. He was the uncle of Ziuk (Józef) Garlinski, who later became a postman in the village. In character, he was an idiot and a failure. For him, the work of the postman was a great mission and a service to the citizens to whom he delivered letters. He loved to gossip and carry unproven information to the area, which often led to difficulties.
  • Aniela Garlińska (portrayed by Maria Maj) - Józef’s sister and Aunt Ziuk’s, who was often mentioned in the show, first appear in the 2009 episodes.

  • Władysław Biernacki (portrayed by Marek Siudym) - Marcelina’s father, member of parliament. The widower married a younger woman, Monika, who bore him a child and then he left. He planned a future together with his secretary Joanna Jęczydło, but she got involved with police officer Frotecki.
  • Ilona Clark-Kowalska (portrayed by Ewa Kasprzyk) - Wiesław’s first wife, mother Agata’s, wealthy businesswoman. She had several husbands. Many years after her return to the USA, she returned to Poland and founded many new businesses. When she returned to the country, she divorced Jerzy Kowalski, who would become a senator, and began a non-binding affair with her first husband. In time, however, he decided to remain faithful to Martha. After nine years, she returned to the United States in 2007.
  • Organist Antoni Pereszczako (portrayed by Eugeniusz Priwiezniecew) - church, organist and gravedigger in Złotopolice.
  • Emil Gilewski (portrayed by Leon Niemczyk) - a resident of Gostolin who lived in the USA for many years, acquired a considerable fortune and then returned to Poland; Owner of a solarium in Załuski. An old love Eleonora, whom he didn’t want to marry years later.
  • Jerzy Kowalski (portrayed by Leszek Teleszyński) - Former senator and ex-husband of Ilona Clark-Kowalska. He was also the owner of the Foundation “Children of the Street”, the pub “Red Lantern” and the elite club “Planeta K. ” In a car accident, he ran over Joanna, Tomasz Gabriel’s ex-girlfriend, and she suffered a miscarriage and became infertile. She has a brother named Maciej, who, like her, has suffered domestic violence from his father in the past. Together with Jerzy, she took him to a boarding school in Łódź, where he continued his education. When she learned of her husband’s fraudulent dealings, she wanted to run away from him. This brought her first to a nervous breakdown and then to depression. He mistreated her mentally, and she was sent to a psychiatric hospital. She also struggled with alcoholism. When she was having an affair with Thomas, her brother threatened that she would leave Kowalski and take drugs. Eventually she separated from Jerzy, and Maciej became addicted to amphetamines and often escaped from boarding school. She was briefly owned by Club Planet K, which she sold to Ilona Clark-Kowalska. She also worked for a bank, as a PR specialist and then as a photo model.
