Zahreela (The Poisonous) is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language thriller,[1] directed by Raj Sippy, starring Mithun Chakraborty in the lead role. Zahreela is an Unofficial remake of the Hollywood Movie Cape Fear.[2]
Plot
Arun Dev (Om Puri) is a famous criminal lawyer who always tries to plead against criminals. He lives happily with his wife Nisha (Kashmera Shah), sister Pooja (Shalini Kapoor) and his friend Kartar Singh (Gulshan Grover) . Years before, he fought in court against an hardcore criminal Dushyant Kumar (Mithun Chakraborty) in a rape trial and sent him to prison. After releasing from jail, Dushyant started to take revenge on Arun's family. Dushyant befriended his sister Pooja after creating a fake act by saving her from goons and threatening Arun, but Arun made her aware of Dushyant. Dushyant continuously stalks and scares Arun's family life without leaving any evidence. He also kills Kartar Singh while Kartar tried to protest. Helpless Arun goes to police, but all is in vain. Soon afterwards, Dushyant kidnaps Arun's sister and his wife and takes them to a graveyard where he throws Pooja inside a grave and tries to rape her. Nisha takes help from other men and tries to stop him, but he beats them all. Soon, Arun arrives there to rescue them, but he is brutally beaten by Dushyant, leaving him unconscious. Pooja tries to escape but is again thrown into the graveyard, her clothes torn, and when Dushyant is about to rape her, Arun returns with a Cross of Sacrifice and stabs Dushyant in the back, fatally injuring him. Dushyant eventually dies there and falls into the open grave. The movie ends with Arun finally reuniting with his family while their housemaid Chandu (Asrani) informs him he is training for Cricket to play in the World Cup.[3]
