Zainab Abbas (Urdu: زینب عباس) is a Pakistani sports journalist, who currently works for Dunya TV.[1] She is the daughter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Andleeb Abbas.[2]
Career[edit]
Abbas is currently working at Dunya TV as a sports anchor. She is the lead presenter for the Pakistan Super League,[3] and has also worked for Ten Sports on the home series against Zimbabwe. She is also the host of another T10 league launched in 2017 and has made her mark in the cricketing fraternity by hosting events for Shahid Afridi foundation, farewell for Younis Khan and others.[citation needed] She has been interviewed as a cricket expert in the Pakistani press.[4] Abbas also hosts a web series Brighto Sawal Cricket Ka! about the Pakistan national cricket team.[5] During the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, some Twitter users joked that athletes appearing in selfies with her were cursed, after players Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers both got out for zero after having their picture taken with Abbas. Some joked that she should take a selfie with Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews, in the hope that he would get out too.[6][7][8][9]
Personal life[edit]
Abbas was born in a family of 12, and was the only girl. She has a degree in Marketing and Strategy from the University of Warwick.[10]
