Zendyll Records is a Singapore-based record label. It predominantly focuses on pop-music.[1] It was founded by a quartet of Singaporean band The Sam Willows, Jon Chua JX.[2][3][4] The label focuses heavily on artists and repertoire (A&R) development, music publishing, music production, songwriting, as well as branding and marketing to build up a collective of producers, songwriters and artists that have a place in the global music ecosystem.[5]

History[edit]

On 1 December 2018, Nathan Hartono, Fariz Jabba, Tabitha Nauser, Vandetta, Estelle Fly, Evanturetime, The Sam Willows performed at Zendyll Records' launch party at Kilo Lounge (Singapore).[1]

The label signed producers, songwriters and artist-songwriters that consists of a songwriting roster known as the 'Zendyll Collective'.[6]

Zendyll Records signed its first artist, Estelle Fly in May 2019.[7][8]

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., visited Zendyll Records on 12 December 2019 to have an insight about the ecosystem of Singaporean music.[9] [10][11][12][13]

Universal Music Group X Zendyll Song Writing Camp (2019)[edit]

Between the 9 September 2019 to 13 September 2019, a week before Music Matters Live (2019), Zendyll Records brought in 25 artiste and producers from Singapore, Malaysia, Canada and the United States to their studio for a songwriting camp. They ran 4 simultaneous sessions daily with various combination of writers for each room. At the end of the songwriting camp, 22 songs were produced. These songs featured a range from Electro MandoPop to Hip-Hop.[16]

Music Matters Live (2019)[edit]

On the 14 September 2019, Zendyll Records partnered up with HUGO to assemble the "Made In Singapore" stage for Music Matters Live (2019).[17] [18]The show merged the high fashion with local indie music. The "Made In Singapore" stage drew in an estimated amount of 12,000 attendees.[19]

The Great Singapore Replay (TGSR) Season Two[22][edit]

Supported by Sony Music and presented by Temasek Holdings, TGSR is a biennial programme that was designed to nurture and inspire emerging music talents in Singapore by collaborating with established local artists to create original Made-in-Singapore songs. Zendyll records was the housing venue of the event and some of its collective worked with these young talents on their original mashups.
