Zensar Technologies Limited is a software and services company with offices in over eighteen countries.
History
Although the company named Zensar was created in 2001, its roots can be traced back much earlier. In 1922, a British firm established a manufacturing unit in Pune and this firm eventually evolved to become the Indian manufacturing arm of ICL and was named ICIM (International Computers Indian Manufacture). In 1963, ICIM listed on the Bombay stock exchange. In 1991, ICIM created a subsidiary company named ICIL, with a focus on software. In 1999, the original hardware division of the parent company was shut down leaving ICIM/ICIL as a purely software company. In February 2000, the company renamed to "Zensar".[1]
Ganesh Natarajan became CEO in 2001 for what was to become a 15 year tenure.[3]
By about 2012 Zensar had approximately 6000 employees servicing 400 companies over 20 global locations,[4]:88 and at the end of the 2016 financial year had built up to a turnover of USD 450 million.[5]
Sandeep Kishore took over as CEO in 2016, taking over from Ganesh Natarajan, [6][3] with Zensar Technology backers being RPG Enterprises and the APAX Portfolio Company by this point.[5]
As of October 2018[update] Zensar Technologies has offices in over 18 countries.[7] It is listed on both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and is present on several indicies including the NSE's Nifty 500 and the S&P BSE 500.[8]
