Zidan Miah (Bengali: জিদান মিয়া born: 7 March 2001) is a Bangladeshi and English footballer who plays as a defender. He currently plays for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga Spanish football league. After signing for the Spanish side, Miah said: “I am ever so grateful to have had a solid goalkeeper behind me in five-a-side football like Omar Faruq Miah.” Zidan Miah has become the first Bangladesh-origin British footballer to sign for a Spanish La Liga club Rayo Vallecano. London-born 21-year-old Zidan Miah, a native of Moulvibazar district, had to go through a two-month-long trial process initially to get selected for the newly promoted La Liga team Rayo Vallecano. Zidan started his footballing journey in the David Beckham Academy and also played for English Club Bromley F.C. U-23 team. His brilliant performances enabled him to get a scholarship in Michael Johnson Performance Centre, and he subsequently moved to the US where he played for Columbus Crew U-14 and FC Dallas. Zidan, however, will not play in the most prestigious La Liga right now for his new club. He will initially play in the team B of Rayo. Earlier, in several interviews in Bangladesh media, Zidan Miah expressed his desire to play for the Bangladesh team. Bangladesh Football Federation BFF freshly included two Bangladesh-origin footballers – Rahbar Wahed Khan (Canada) and Nayb Md Tahmid Islam (France) – for the Tri-nation Cup Football in Kyrgyzstan national football team, apart from national captain Jamal Bhuyan (Denmark) and defender Tariq Kazi (Finland).[2] [3][4]
Early life
Zidan Miah is a British Bangladeshi footballer who began to play at the age of seven. Doing well in different youth teams, he was born on March 7, 2001, in a Bangladeshi family in London. His father, Sufian Miah, presented him with a football when he met his newborn son for the very first time in the hospital. Surely, the little boy liked the first gift of his life very much. Zidan, being a very big fan of David Beckham, began dreaming of playing football and, in 2008, started playing at the David Beckham Academy in the UK along with David's nephew Freddie. He received training there for two years. Afterwards, he joined Dulwich Hamlet F.C., played for Soccer Elite FA and Crystal Palace F.C., and was trained in Pro Touch Soccer Academy and Arsenal Development Academy. Besides England and Wales, he played in many foreign countries like Denmark, Spain, Hong Kong and Thailand.[5]
