Zimin Foundation is a non-profit organization established by Dr. Dmitry Borisovich Zimin with the aim to support science, education and spread of information. The stated mission of the Foundation is to support scientific studies of all kinds; scientific institutions (institutes, foundations, agencies, laboratories, research centers and other establishments) and scientists.

Dr. Dmitry Zimin is the founder and honorary president of VimpelCom (brand Beeline[1]), the first Russian company listed on New York Stock Exchange through IPO back in 1996, and which since then has become VEON group[2]). When in 2001 Dr. Dmitry Zimin retired he sold his controlling stake in Vimpelcom and devoted the majority of his time to philanthropy. Dr. Zimin had transferred 90% of his wealth to endowment.[3] In 2002 he founded Dynasty Foundation after which for more than ten years his philanthropic activities have been focused mainly on Russia. The Dynasty Foundation was managed by an independent Board, in which the Zimin family was represented by Dr. Zimin and his son Boris Zimin.

In 2015 Dynasty Foundation was labeled by the Russian government as a foreign agent despite the fact that none of its revenues came from abroad. That's why the foundation had to wrap up its activities. Thereafter the Zimin Foundation continued philanthropic activities of the Zimin family not limiting it any more to Russia and extending them widely geographically. After Dr. Zimin’s death on 22 December 2021 his son Boris Zimin became the leader of all philanthropic activities of the Zimin Foundation.
