The Global Association of Economics Education (GAEE)[1] is an international non-profit, non-governmental[2] youth organization founded in 2017[3] that focuses on the empowerment of economics education, financial literacy and entrepreneurship incubation for pre-undergraduate students across the globe.[4][5][6]

History[edit]

The Global Association of Economics Education was originally established as the Indochinese Economics Education Initiative (IEEI) in 2017.[7][8] After two years of expanding across eight countries, IEEI was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the Global Association of Economics Education[9] and has been recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.[10][11] GAEE is listed in the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis's RePec (Research Papers in Economics) database of Economics Departments, Institutes and Research Centers in the World (EDIRC).[12] It is also recognized as a CSO Partner of the United Nations' UNPP Program[2][13] and formally associated with the Civil Society Network of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as an NGO.[14][15] The organization has also established "strategic partnership" with the Association internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales (AIESEC)[16] and is recognized as a global student group "working for the reform of economics education" by the World Economics Association.[17]

Programs[edit]

GAEE's Home App[edit]

Considered one of the first mobile applications for learning economics, GAEE's Home App has been beta tested among its network of 1500 members.[18] The app is expected to launch in early 2020, featuring interactive economics, personal finance and entrepreneurship lessons for students both outside and inside its affiliated network.[4][19]

GAEE's Silk Road Plan[edit]

GAEE's Silk Road Plan is the three-phased action plan of the Global Association of Economics Education to "expand its network to 18 countries across the globe" and introduce "five thousand members" into its network by 2021.[20]

GAEE's Southeast Asia Month[edit]

With the theme "Education in the Industry 4.0," the program is regarded as "one of the most innovative and futuristic education movement in the region" by combining various delivering methods, such as Training-of-Trainers (ToT), academic clubs and conferences, workshops and online platforms.[21][22] Focusing on the orientation of education to adapt to the Industry 4.0 era, the month-long program is hosted in Southeast Asian nations that are likely to suffer the most significant impacts of the fourth industrial revolution.[23] GAEE's Southeast Asia Month 2019 is endorsed by Association internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales (AIESEC) and Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).[24][25]
