History[edit]

Zone24x7 Inc.[1] was founded in 2003 by CEO Llavan Fernando and CFO Saw-Chin Fernando, and is headquartered in San Jose, California, United States.

In 2004, they also established Zone (Pvt) Ltd., an advanced technology center, in Colombo, Sri Lanka as a separate organization, which provides engineering specialists and related technology services to Zone24x7 Inc.

In 2007, Zone24x7 collaborated with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of Sri Lanka’s University of Moratuwa to open an Electronic Systems Research Lab focusing on the areas of Electronic Systems, Embedded Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation and Computer Vision. Its purpose was to improve the quality technology research in Sri Lanka by bringing it on par with global trends and demands. The then United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka Robert O. Blake Jr. declared the lab open.[2]

In 2010, the company gained recognition for its work towards the global blind community by designing a more affordable and capable Open Hardware and Software Platform powered by Android for blind people. This was achieved in partnership with the National Braille Press (NBP) of the United States of America.[3]
