Zoomable.ca is an online service for viewing and sharing high-resolution imagery. It converts users' submitted images to the Deep Zoom format, which allows users to smoothly and efficiently explore the whole image, no matter how large. The image viewer can be embedded on mainstream platforms such as Medium, Squarespace, Matterport, Shopify, etc. A similar service is available such as zoom.it, created by Microsoft Live Labs (discontinued since 2014) and its successor ZoomHub.

The service caters to a variety of sectors, with strong user base in the creative and cultural sector.[1].

In 2019[2], Zoomable began to offer plugins for various platforms such as WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Image Composite Editor (ICE), and ImageJ.

In relation to Zoomify[edit]

Although they have similar names, Zoomable is not affiliated with Zoomify in anyway. However, some of the Zoomable products rely on technologies from Zoomify. For example, the initial release of Zoomable for Adobe Photoshop is built on top of the Zoomify Export function in PhotoShop. A new template is created to address the problem of the Zoomify image viewer where viewing zoomable image locally is not possible due to brower's security policy[3]. A second release is introduced after Zoomify Export function is removed by Adobe[4] due to lack of usage[5]. The second version does not rely on the interface and Export function created by Zoomify but it still produces Zoomify tiles.

Note that Zoomify has been around before the Deep Zoom technology is introduced and the way the tiles are generated between them are slightly different[6][7]. Zoomable's OpenSeadragon based image viewer supports both tile format [8] [9]
