分布式搜索引擎是一种不依赖于中央服务器的搜索引擎。网页抓取、数据挖掘、索引建立以及询问处理等一系列工作，都分散到各个不同的电脑上完成。其最大的特点是去集中化，也就是说不存在能控制所有数据运行的中央数据中心。
