(LA)HORDE is a collective of French artists, originally from Paris. The collective is at the origin of the post-internet dance concept..[1]. Since 2019, they are at the direction of the Ballet national de Marseille [2] .

Biography[edit]

The collective was formed in Paris in 2011[3]. Their work stems from encounters with different online communities, and they are at the origin of the concept of "post-internet dance" [4] , [5] , [3] , [6] . The collective was first spotted with their show Void Island [3] . According to « Le Nouvel Observateur ,«(LA)HORDE work at the intersection of dance, visual arts and performance. They draw on performances, films, theory...»

Regarding the creation of the collective, Le Monde explains : "Despite its name, (LA)HORDE collective brings together only three artists in their early thirties : Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel. They play with labels and operate in several fields: choreography, performances, installations, films. A collective that the arty world scrutinizes, not least for its eclecticism. Hence the nickname "horde"."[7]

In 2015, they present the show Avant les Gens Mouraient, performed with students from the contemporary dance school in Montreal[8] . In 2016 they embark on their Night Owl Tour. In 2017, they staged self-taught jumpstyle dancers who met on the internet [9] for the show To Da Bone, at the Charleroi/Danses biennial, at the Gymnase de Roubaix and at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris [10] , [11] , [12]

"(LA)HORDE collaborates with communities of individuals on the edge of mainstream culture for a shared, artistic journey: senior citizens in their seventies, blind people, cloud-chasers, teenagers... Opposed to all forms of hierarchy and cultural appropriation, they practice interrelation and cooperation. Concerned and exploratory, they are on the alert. The body is central to their work. Their works are the result of their encounters with different online communities, in order to define what has become of dance after the rise of the internet, an important subject for (La)Horde, which has led the members of the collective to define the phenomenon under the term/concept: "post internet dances"."[13]
