The 1945 Bolventor Halifax crash occurred 14 September 1945 when a Royal Air Force Handley Page Halifax Mk VII crashed while en-route from RAF Tarrant Rushton to Lajes Air Base, Azores. While over Cornwall a electrical failure caused an inflatable dinghy to activate and blown up. The inflatable dinghy came out of the aircrafts wing stowage and fouled around the tail assembly, restricting the elevators & control of the aircraft was lost. The aircraft went into a dive & crashed into Priddacombe Downs near the hamlet of Bolventor. All 21 passengers and crew died in the crash.[1] [2]
