1st Guard Corporation is an American insurance company. The company insures commercial semi-trucks and trailers. Their products include physical damage truck insurance, non-trucking liability insurance, and occupational accident truck insurance.The company was founded in 1937, as a Detroit-based insurance agency, and is headquartered in Venice, Florida. Biglari Holdings Inc. acquired[1] the 1st Guard organization in 2014.

History
1st Guard Corporation was founded in 1937, as a Detroit based insurance agency. It later created a truck insurance division to supplement its general lines' sales. In 1965, Edmund B Campbell, Jr. purchased the company. He moved a larger share of the agency's resources to develop insurance products for independent truckers. In 1969, the general lines portion of the agency was divested, making 1st Guard Corporation an exclusive provider of truck insurance programs for owner-operators.
In 1991, Mr. Campbell, Jr. sold the company to his son, Mr. Edmund B. Campbell, III. Under Mr. Campbell, III the company embarked upon a growth and automation strategy that led to the formation of First Guard Insurance Company.
Biglari Holdings Inc. acquired the 1st Guard organization in 2014. The advent of a publicly traded parent company presents new opportunities for growth and innovation[3][4][5][6][7][8][9], but the traditions and people that made 1st Guard the leader in owner operator truck insurance remain in place.[10]
