The 2012–13 season was Gateshead's fourth consecutive season in the Conference National and their 15th at this level in total.

Chronological list of events[edit]

  • 6 July 2012: Midfielder Jamie Chandler is named vice-captain following the departure of Kris Gate.[5]
  • 14 August 2012: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Ryan McGorrigan on an initial one-month deal.[7]
  • 17 August 2012: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder/striker Ryan Donaldson on an initial half-season deal.[8]
  • 12 September 2012: Josh Gillies plays 90 minutes for England C in their 2–1 win against Belgium U23s.[10]
  • 13 September 2012: Ryan McGorrigan's initial one-month contract is extended for a further month.[10]
  • 14 October 2012: Striker Ryan McGorrigan is released by the club.[11]
  • 22 November 2012: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Liam Henderson on loan from York City until January & Lee Bullock's loan is extended for another month.[13]
  • 26 November 2012: Gateshead announce Ryan Donaldson's initial half-season deal has been extended until the end of the season.[14]
  • 10 December 2012: Gateshead announce manager Ian Bogie and assistant Terry Mitchell have been relieved of their duties at the club. Reserve team manager Anth Smith is named as caretaker manager.[15]
  • 13 December 2012: Anth Smith is named manager until the end of the season.[16]
  • 3 January 2013: Gateshead name David Rush as assistant manager to Anth Smith, with former reserve team manager Paul Bryson returning as head coach.[17]
  • 30 January 2013: Gateshead sign defender Peter Bore after a successful trial.[22]
  • 28 February 2013: Gateshead confirm that The International Stadium will not stage any more games for the remainder of the season.[27]
  • 15 March 2013: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Jake Fowler on a one-month loan from Middlesbrough.[28]
  • 24 April 2013: Gateshead announce manager Anth Smith has been given a new one-year contract.[34]
