The 2017–18 Académica do Porto Novo season were in the island and top division of Cape Verdean football. Their season was shortened due that Tarrafal de Monte Trigo again did not compete, and two additional, Lajedos who was runner up last season and Associação Santo André, the region's least successful club. Their reasons was in part due to financial and material. This reduced to six clubs that participated in the competition with the last being in 2010, this would be less successful for Académica than the 2016 and the 2017 seasons, but they would be more successful than the six match 2012 season. The club won their 12th title[1] and became the next club to win eight consecutive titles of each island leagues, others are CS Mindelense of nearby São Vicente several times between the foundation up to 1994, Botafogo of Fogo in 1981 and Brava's Nô Pintcha in 1996. The title total has became to be one of the most number of clubs having the most regional titles.[1]
Académica Porto Novo's regional championship titles covers more than half of the 24 regional titles won with the exception of some seasons in the late 1990s.
Santp Antão North Opening Tournament[edit]
Académica took part in their next opening tournament (or association cup), the next in three years, they would win another title.
Santo Antão South Zone Island League[edit]
The 2017-18 season was their eighth consecutive season that finished first place. It was a slightly more successful than the previous season and did not had a single loss. Académica currently has a 22 match unbeaten streak and its record still continues on home matches.
Académica Porto Novo finished with every match won and 51 goals scored, one of the highest in club history.
Uncommon in other leagues in other countries, some of the matches of different portions were mixed up and in different round which were not in order.

Santo Antão South Cup[edit]
On March 21, Académica Porto Novo defeated Marítimo in the regional cup final 2-1 at extra time and claimed their 13th cup title and is the most of any of the regional Capeverdean cup titles.
Santo Antão South Cup[edit]
Nonetheless in the 2017 edition played on December 16, the club defeated Os Sanjoanenses who was second place cup winner as the club were also cup winners and claimed their 7th Super Cup title after winning 4-0.
Cape Verdean Football Championships[edit]
The 2018 National Championships season was the second that had three groups. The club was placed in Group A.
