Just after The April 9, an election was held for a parliamentary seat but voter turnout was only 7 percent,[5] A video of Indian security personnel became viral in which they were beating students.[6] Following this, a large number of students in different parts of Kashmir valley ran a mock against Indian police and army. The distinctive part of this agitation was that a large number of female teen students took part in it.[7] The NDTV of India called it as "Kashmir's New Face Of Protests: Teen Schoolgirls On The Streets".[8] The protest left many students with injuries and detained.[9]
