The 2017 Long Branch shootings was a mass murder allegedly committed by Scott Kologi (aged 16) at the family home at 635 Wall Street in Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
Kologi’s parents, Steven and Linda (aged 44 and 42, respectively), his sister Brittany (aged 18), and Mary Schultz (aged 70), who lived in the home were fatally shot with what is being called a Century Arms semi-automatic rifle. A brother, Steven Kologi Jr., and their grandfather, Adrian Kologi, who was dating Mary Schultz, were at the home, but escaped unharmed. Scott Kologi, who is autistic, was taken into police custody “without incident”. No motive was ascribed. He has been charged with four counts of murder and a weapons violation.[1][2][3]
Kologi, who attends special education, but not the same school as his siblings, was described as "fully functional" by neighbor Jalen Walls.[4]
