The 2018–19 season was Township Rollers's 15th consecutive in the Botswana Premier League, the top division in Botswana football. Coach Nikola Kavazovic left the club on 17 October 2018[1] after seven matches (W6 D1 L0) and won 19 points, and the rest of the first round matches were managed by assistant coaches Thabo Motang and Leutlwetse Tshireletso,[2] with Argentine gaffer Rodolfo Zapata taking charge in January after delays in contract finalisation.[3]

A disappointing 2018–19 CAF Champions League saw Rollers eliminated early. Following an impressive display in the 2018 campaign, the club was eliminated on penalties by Lesotho Premier League side Bantu FC in the preliminary round.[4] Rollers was also eliminated by Gaborone United in the Mascom Top 8 Cup semifinals[5] and lost the FA Cup final to Orapa United,[6] finishing the season with just the BTC Premiership trophy.

Pre-season and friendlies[edit]

Township Rollers beat PSL side club Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 after a stunning game ahead of the 2019-2020 season on 20 July 2019.

Botswana FA Cup[edit]

As a Premier League team Rollers entered the FA Cup in the round of 32. They were drawn away against CSRFA Division One champions Santa Green. Two goals from Mogorosi and Orebonye as well as a Thatayaone Mampadi own goal were enough to eliminate the Division One side. Next Rollers eliminated fellow Premier League club Extension Gunners and KRFA Division One champions Kazungula Young Fighters by a solitary goal, courtesy of Moalosi and Cooper. In the quarterfinal Rollers was drawn against BDF XI, whom they defeated 2-0 before losing 3-0 in the final against Orapa United.

Mascom Top 8 Cup[edit]

Rollers kicked off their Mascom Top 8 campaign against debutants Black Forest. The first leg match, initially scheduled to be played on the 23rd, was postponed to the 30th to accommodate Rollers' CAF schedule.[16] Rollers won both legs and progressed to the semifinals, where they also won the first leg in a Gaborone Derby against Gaborone United. However, in the return leg United struck two past Rollers to take the tie into extra time tied at 2-2 aggregate. Orebonye's 113rd minute strike was not enough to pull Rollers through as GU later scored again, and with the away goal rule being disregarded for extra time, the two teams went into a penalty shootout where Rollers lost 9-10.
