On March 4, 2021, 13:27:34 UTC, the 2021 Gisborne earthquakes has a magntiude of 7.3 Mw moment magnitude scale with an intensity of VI (Strong) 174 km southeast of Gisborne, New Zealand. A tsunami warning was issued, then cancelled.[1]

A tsunami was observed at 28 cm (11 in) at East Cape, 15 cm (5.9 in) on Great Barrier Island, and 3 cm (1.1 in) at Tauranga.
Other events[edit]
A magnitude 7.4, followed by an 8.1 mainshock followed this earthquake. the latter damaged a few buildings and caused landslides on Raoul Island and generated a tsunami that reached heights up to 0.56 m (1.8 ft) in Norfolk Island.[4]
