On September 17, 2022 a mid-air collision involving two airplanes occurred in Longmont, Colorado. One was a Cessna 172 with two persons on board. The other airplane had only the pilot on board. All occupants died.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating a collision involving a Cessna 172 and another airplane it identified as a Sonex Xenos.[1]
