On October 10, 2022, a van driver was killed while a child was injured in an attack on a school van by unknown persons in Gali Bagh area of Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.[1][2]

Sit in[edit]

After the incident, a dharna was staged by the family of driver Hussain Ahmed and other people of Swat district. Jirga organizers said that the body will not be buried until the person involved in the attack is arrested.[3][4][5][6] A demonstration against the incident was held at the central Nishat Chowk, in which a large number of people participated. Awami National Party Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan, Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement Chief Manzoor Pashteen, Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and other political and social figures participated in the demonstration.[7][8]

Background[edit]

It has been 3 months since the law and order situation deteriorated in Swat. On 8 October a fake police encounter on Bypass Road killed 2 innocent civilians and declared as terrorists.[9]
