The 2024 Akhnoor attack on 28 October 2024 involved militants firing upon an Indian Army vehicle in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir. Three soldiers were killed, and two were injured. The attackers, allegedly three militants, were engaged by security forces, leading to a large-scale search operation.

Background

A week before this attack, militants ambushed army vehicles in the Baramulla district, killing 4 soldiers and 2 porters.[1]

The Attack

On the morning of 28 October, around 7:00 AM, militants opened fire on an Indian Army vehicle in Akhnoor. Initial reports indicated that three soldiers were killed and two injured. The army responded quickly, initiating a large search operation to find the attackers.[1][2]
