He was born and raised in Bugesera, Rwanda. In early 2021, Talesi began to find his way to becoming one of the best artists in Africa and the world at large, after completing his secondary education at College Saint Ignace-Mugina, where he obtained a secondary certificate (A2) with good grades in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as well as entrepreneurship. At that time, he lived in the same area as some of Rwanda’s most prominent figures such as Butera Knowless (who also shared a history of studying at the same university - the University of Rwanda), Bwiza, Platini P who was in the Dream Boys music group, and Tom Close. [1] His first song, 'Uwo Ushaka,' gave him hope that he could reach international fame after seeing the song being used on various television and radio stations in Africa, parts of Europe and elsewhere.
Early life
Aristide IGENUKWAYO Joviale was born on June 20, 2001, in the Eastern Province of Bugesera District in Rwanda, in one of the sectors where the Bugesera International Airport project is being built. He grew up in the nearby Gashora sector, which has a camp housing refugees from various parts of the world such as Libya, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi, Sudan and elsewhere [Gashora Refugee Camp]. [2] Since childhood, he had lived in various parts of the country such as Bugesera, Kamonyi, Muhanga, Musanze, Gakenke and even in some areas of Kigali city such as Kimisagara, Gatsata and other areas in the country due to his family moving frequently or for various reasons. He says that since childhood he used to attend every game that was played in the area where he lived because he really loves sports such as football, volleyball, basketball and various others.
He is descended from MUKAMURIGO Petronille and MURAMUTSA Jean Baptiste in a family of three children born to his father and mother and is the third or youngest. His family moved frequently during his elementary and high school years due to his father's job and the gradual separation of his parents. His sister IHIRWE Mary Josine (firstborn), was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo while their parents were in a refugee camp and his older brother IRABARUSHA IZERE Idesbald Jovite was born after their parents left the camp and was born in Rwanda [3] .
Education
He attended his early schooling at Gashora Primary School (an institution managed by his biological father for a long time) where he continued his primary education. He completed primary school (P6) at EP Gashora in Bugesera district, but attended other schools for less than a year, namely: Groupe Scolaire Kivumu and Groupe Scolaire st Kiyonza located in Kamonyi district. He also completed his O' Level after attending schools like Group scolaire Dihiro (in Bugesera District) and G.S Kivumu (in Kamonyi District). He then pursued his Advanced Level education at Lycée de la Sainte Trinité-APEDE in Bugesera/Ngenda District and later attended Rwanda Polytechnic, where he studied Masonry in 2017.
Afterward, he switched to studying science (under the Rwanda Education Board/NESA) at College Saint Ignace-Mugina in Kamonyi District, where he specialized in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), completing his studies around 2021. His delayed graduation was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and shifts between different academic disciplines as early mentioned.
He later enrolled in the University of Rwanda - College of Science and Technology, located in Nyarugenge District, Kigali, where he is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Environmental (CEE). His university studies are expected to last for approximately four years, with a projected graduation in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Relationship
It appears that Alli Talesi prefers to keep his personal life private, despite being a young man with charm and good looks. As of now, no information is available about him having a romantic relationship or having been in one. Those close to him affirm that even during his adolescence and young adulthood, he never seemed involved in romantic relationships, school crushes, or high school love. In fact, whenever someone pointed out a beautiful girl and suggested that she liked him or that they would be a good match, he would avoid the situation and walk away, sometimes appearing uncomfortable.
In 2024, when he released his song Over the Moon, he shared it on his social media platforms, and various female celebrities, including Miss Rwanda 2022, Nshuti Muheto Divine, and musicians like Bwiza, Marina Deborah, France Mpundu (from Rwanda), Tyla (from South Africa), and Ayra Starr (from Nigeria), engaged with his romantic-themed songs. Specifically, Bwiza featured her on his Instagram wall, including a picture of a young child whose face was not shown, which he later deleted (become unavailable). It is being anticipated that he might be having a special relationship with one of these women, but no further details emerged.
Later, when asked about his personal life and whether he had a partner in interviews on various Rwandan radio stations like Energy Radio (in Musanze formerly known as Ruhengeri) and Radio Imanzi (in Kigali), he firmly stated that he was not in a romantic relationship at that time (early 2024).
Career
2023 - Present: "Uwo ushaka" and national recognition
He officially began his music career in May 2023 while continuing his university studies at the University of Rwanda, pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Civil Engineering Environmental in English. It was during this time that he started releasing songs, including Uwo Ushaka, Urugo Ruhire, Dis-le Moi, and Over the Moon, which aired on various television and radio stations nationwide. He still produces his music in various genres such as R&B, R&B, Afro-pop, Zouk, Afrobeats, Rwandan Traditional Music and many others.
Artistry
Talesi is seen as one of the artists who offer hope for the development of Rwandan and African music in general due to his unique blend of R&B, Afro-pop, traditional music, Zouk, and Afrobeats. Talesi says he grew up loving the world’s biggest stars like Chris Brown, Meddy, Enrique Iglesias, King James, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, P square and many others, and says there are many good things to learn from them in his musical journey. His talent is also evident in combining the realities of life with the art he creates, creating a sound that is pure and touches the hearts of many.
So far, it seems that Talesi-related musical projects are being executed with skill and dedication. For example, one of his recent musical projects includes the songs "Uwo Ushaka," "Urugo Ruhire," "Dis-le Moi," and "Over the Moon." Each of his works demonstrates his talent and the great passion he has for his profession, giving hope that it can grow and transcend the borders of Africa. Since he was little, he has been hardworking, calm, and at times very funny. He likes to do things systematically, which is evident from the fact that when he has time, he often learns new languages to gain basic skills. It is believed that this is why his songs are often dominated by foreign languages, where to date in his songs you can find different languages, for example: Kinyarwanda, French, Swahili, English, Portuguese, Spanish and other languages. Stay tuned to Alli Talesi on her exciting musical journey - her story is still just beginning.
