Aadi Naidu is a social group in Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Gandikota Kamma. Gandikota Kamma is the subcaste of the Kamma caste.[1]. During Vijaynagar times they worked as nayaks and helped protecting the Hindu dharma in South India.
Most of Gandikota families migrated to Tamil Nadu after the fall of the Vijaynagar empire. The zamindars of Ilaiyasanadal and Kurivikulam in Tamil Nadu belong to the Ravella and Pemmasani clans of Gandikota Kamma.[2] They are known as Aadi Naidu, meaning the ancient Nayak or Naidu kings who trace their origin to the ancient kingdom Kammanadu.
