Abdul Hakeem Faizy (Malayalam: അബ്ദുൽ ഹക്കീം ഫൈസി ആദൃശ്ശേരി Arabic: عبد الحكيم الفيضي) is a reformist Islamic scholar and educationalist from India, who was forced to step down as the General Secretary of Coordination of Islamic Colleges following a dispute with the council of conservative Sunni scholars in Kerala called Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama. [1] [2][3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12][excessive citations] He has modernized the curriculum of Islamic seminaries in Kerala by introducing compulsory university-level secular education along with religious studies and introduced the concept of exclusive seminaries for women. [13] [14] The integrated courses he designed are called Wafy and Wafiyya, which are currently being taught in the affiliated colleges of Coordination of Islamic Colleges. [15] [16] Faizy is an executive board member from India at the Cairo-based League of Islamic Universities.[17]
