Abdullahi Kassim is a Nigerian engineer serving as Executive Director (Generation) of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). He was appointed to the role by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2020[1] and reappointed by President Bola Tinubu in August 2024.[2]
Education
Kassim studied Mechanical Engineering at Bayero University, Kano, and holds a Master of Science in Thermal Power from Cranfield University, United Kingdom.[1]
Career
Before his government appointment, Kassim worked for over 15 years in the power generation sector, including roles at General Electric and Alstom Power.[1]
In October 2020, Kassim was appointed Executive Director (Generation) of NDPHC by President Buhari, as part of an expansion of the company's board to six directors, each drawn from one of Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.[3][1]
He was reappointed to the role by President Tinubu in August 2024.[2][4][5][6]
As Executive Director, he oversees NDPHC's power generation assets with an installed capacity of over 4,000 megawatts across ten power plants.[7][8] In 2023, he was conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).[9]
