Abhilash Shetty (born September 3, 1993) is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor.[1][2] He made his directorial debut with the Kannada film Koli Taal,[3][4][5] which premiered at 21st New York Indian Film Festival.[6][7] His film screened and won numerous accolades at various film festivals in the US, Australia, Germany and South Korea.[8]

Early life

Shetty was born on 3 September 1993 in Shimoga, Karnataka. He did his schooling in a boarding school Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gajanur, Shimoga. Later he did a Bachelor of Commerce in ATNCC, Shimoga. After graduating, he worked as a financial analyst for two years at Capgemini in Bangalore, and then he quits his job to pursue his filmmaking dreams.[9][10]

Career

Before his directorial venture Koli Taal,[11] Abhilash wrote and directed short films called Crony,[12] Vinashi,[13] and 2 Missed Calls[14] which screened at over 20 International film festivals. Abhilash wrote, directed, and edited his debut feature film Koli Taal which screened at the 21st New York Indian Film Festival,[15] 18th Indian film festival of Stuttgart, Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, IFF Cincinnati.[16]
