Abid Waheed Sheikh is a Politician and businessman by profession. Abid is former Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, a government-run social welfare project aimed at reducing poverty.[2][3][4]
Career[edit]
Abid graduated from the University of Punjab and did Bar-at-Law degree from the University of London.[5] Abid started his career as a barrister by profession. Abid is known for his philanthropist initiatives as well as for his political affiliations and activities.[6] Notably, his involvement with Pakistan Sweet Homes, an orphanage based in Pakistan.[7]
In 2013, Abid was appointed as a managing director of the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.[8] Abid has initiated a number of innovative projects which have magnified the importance of the Bait-ul-Mal.[9][10] Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has provided aid and medical attention to hundreds of people suffering from the disease.[11]
Controversy[edit]
A number of people have criticized his appointment as the managing director. The argument placed forth is that his appointment was simply a way to reward his loyalty to the ruling party.[12]
