Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya (born 24 December 1965) is a Nigerian engineer, entrepreneur, politician, and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).[1]

Early Life and Education[edit]

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Adeyemi Orekoya in Lagos, precisely in the town of Somolu, in Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State. He attended Lagos City Council (LCC) Primary School, FaceTime, and The Apostolic Church Grammar School, Ketu, Lagos for both his primary and secondary education, respectively. He proceeded to further his education at Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, where he obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.[2]

Upon completion of his mandatory one-year youth service at the 43 Engineers Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Jos, in 1989, Orekoya started his career with the engineering department of The Guardian newspapers in 1990. After a year at The Guardian, he moved to Ideal Concepts, a computer engineering consulting firm, in 1991, where he rose to the rank of General Manager in 1994, holding the position till 1996, before establishing his own private business—a computer engineering and consulting firm in 1997.[3][4]

Political career[edit]

Orekoya is a former Commissioner of the Lagos State Local Government Commission, Lagos State. He was nominated for the appointment by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the Lagos State House of Assembly confirmed his appointment on December 1, 2020.He served as Executive Vice Chairman of Somolu Local Government in 2008, a position he was reelected to in 2011. On the 5th of January,  2015, he was appointed as the Executive Secretary of Somolu Local Government. [2][3][5]
