Absolute Comics is an imprint of Red Giant Entertainment. It was created in 2018 with the intention of creating and publishing comics in a single, shared universe (dubbed the "Absolute Comics Universe").[1] Some titles previously printed under the Red Giant label (such as “First Defense” and “AMPED”) were rebranded within the new Absolute Comics label to signify that they were all interconnected works.

Absolute Comics' debut was at New York Comic Con in October 2018, where they shared their first original comic series, "White Widow[2]".[3] [4]The first issue immediately sold out and had to go to a second printing, selling around 70,000 copies in total. The second issue continued to prove popular, selling around 75,000 copies.[5] The first issue also proved popular with many reviewers, although the obvious inspiration from Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man was sometimes controversial.[6][7][8][9]

The success of White Widow quickly provided the opportunity for characters introduced in this series to spin-off into new series of their own, such as with “I Make Boys Cry”.[10]

The YouTuber Markiplier also had his own run of comics within this universe, in which he met and interacted with various characters from the other series.[11]

In September 2020, a Kickstarter campaign was launched, aimed at people new to their comics universe. It offered both physical and digital copies of all titles under their umbrella at the time, with variant covers also available for the physical comics. This started a trend for the company, which has gone on to launch many of their books through the same process.
