When two Somali pirate boats attacked the Greek cargo ship M/V Antonis, the cargo ship alerted for help, and the Swedish corvette HMS Malmö, who was only 17 kilometers away, perceived it. When the pirates saw the Swedish ship they fled, and the HMS Malmö took up the chase, focusing on one of the boats. The Swedes shot warning shots so the pirates would give up. After around twenty minutes, the pirates gave up and a Swedish crew was dispatched to board the pirates boat. Seven pirates were captured. The Swedish ship was on an EU-mission, and an agreement between the EU and Kenya stipulates that pirates arrested by EU forces are to be taken to Kenya to face trial.
