Ahamefula Brendan Rochas (born 1st March, 1994[1] in Jos, Nigeria.) is a Nigerian investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist from Imo State, Nigeria.[2]
He is the managing director of the Aham Rochas group, a Nigerian-based Venture capital and private equity company.[2]
Background
Rochas was born on 1 March 1994 in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria to Rochas Okorocha and his wife Nkechi Rochas. He is the fourth of six children.
He is a first-class graduate of the University of Manchester with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering. He also has a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from Imperial College London[3], and attained an MSc in entrepreneurship from the University of Cambridge.[4]
Career
Rochas is an engineer, entrepreneur, African investor and Venture Capitalist who invests in African entrepreneurs and startups. He holds the role of managing director of the Aham Rochas group, a Nigerian-based Venture capital and private equity company which he founded in 2016.[2]
Philanthropy
Rochas is the president and founder of the Aham Rochas Foundation, a charity organisation which focuses on education and entrepreneurial empowerment for the less privileged. Through the foundation he launched an Education Program for Internally Displaced Children (IDPs) in the Federal Capital Territory in 2017 as part of his charity efforts to reintroduce education to out-of-school children displaced by insurgency in Nigeria.[2]
Death Rumour and Controversy
Following a health issue in 2017, Aham Rochas was rumoured to have slumped and died, necessitating a refutation from his father.[5]
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aham Rochas was criticised by indigenes of Orlu, Imo for providing relief materials to a community in Nasarawa State adjacent to the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria where he resides and not doing the same in Imo State where he is from.[6]
