TK Kirkland, born Terrance Kirkland on April 3, 1961, to Ann Kirkland and James Kirkland, is an American actor, stand-up comedian, writer, director, television personality, social media influencer, relationship advice expert, social justice commentator, radio host, author, and podcast host. He is best known in the country for his stand-up comedy tagline "who raised you?" resulting in his frequent appearances on Comic View, Def Comedy Jam, Netflix, and other networks.
Early life
Kirkland was born in New Jersey. He attended the University of Arizona and relocated to Compton, California as a young man, where he remained throughout his adolescent years. T.K. went to Mountain Lakes High School where he earned good grades during his high school years. Afterward, Terrance graduated from New Jersey State University.
Career
Kirkland toured with rap group N.W.A in the 1980s after working with rap legend Eazy-E and NWA. Since then, T.K. has been known as the “Gangsta of Comedy.” Kirkland has also worked with numerous celebrities, including Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, 50 Cent, Keyshia Cole, Kid Rock, Vin Diesel, Madonna, Outkast, Ludacris, Luniz, Cash Money Millionaires, Ruff Ryders, DMX, 50 Cent, Tupac, and numerous others.
Kirkland started a management company and managed other famous comedians including Jamie Foxx, DL Hughley, and Michael Epps. His management company later merged and expanded to include performing arts, new media arts, film, television, radio, and video with Tommy Castro and David Clingman, and started Artistry Management Company. The expansion resulted in the management of famous actors including John Leguizamo, Sandra Bullock, and Anthony Michael Hall.
Personal life
TK Kirkland is the proud father of Jordan, Isis, Trinity, and Aris, and husband to Tamara Kirkland. He has a sibling, Steve Kirkland. T.K. Kirkland stands tall at a height of 5 feet 8 inches and is also a fitness enthusiast. He also enjoys tattoos.
