Aileen Quinn is a British writer, playwright and digital content creator best known for her instagram profile @tindertranslators, where she discusses dating apps (mainly Tinder), politics and current affairs from a feminist and comedic standpoint.[1][2] Quinn also writes plays and blogs around the themes of politics and feminism.[1][2]
Personal life[edit]
Quinn lives in Manchester, UK with her son.[1][2]
Quinn attended the University of Manchester where she studied a BA in History[citation needed] and an MA in Cultural History.[3] Quinn won the Round Table Commonwealth Award for Young Scholars, while undertaking her postgraduate research on women's roles in the political party, National Liberation Movement, in Ghana.[3]
Quinn is a Christian and lay member of the Church of England.[2]
Career[edit]
Quinn has worked as a copywriter, writer, playwright and digital content creator.[2][1]
Her playwright works include: 'Rembrand' in 2016[2] and 'Living the Dream' in 2017; both of which she co-authored with her father James Quinn.[4] Quinn also co-authored "Ten takes on Resistance" in 2017 with a group of playwrights.[5]
Tindertranslators[edit]
Quinn's instagram handle @tindertranslators has over 40 thousand followers.[6] Quinn publishes content where she literally translates tinder bios - identifying undertones of misogyny and arrogance in how tinder users describe themselves and what they are looking for when using the app.[1]
Quinn is an intersectional-feminist and uses the Instagram account tindertranslators to work towards raising awareness of the oppression of women and marginalised groups.[1]
