Aircloak
Aircloak GmbH is a German software company headquartered in Berlin, Germany. Aircloak was founded by Felix Bauer, Sebastian Probst Eide and Paul Francis, with support from the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems.[1]
Aircloak provides a new privacy analytics methodology that anonymizes personal data while maintaining information content.[2][3]
Aircloak and the GDPR[edit]
Starting May 2018, companies collecting data from European Union citizens will need to comply with new regulations under the General Data Protection Regulation. Aircloak is one of several technology companies that are marketing data privacy solutions ahead of the new regulations. Others include London-based Privitar, Privacy Analytics of Canada and Dataguise of the U.S.[4]
CNIL, the French national data protection authority, has evaluated Diffix against the GDPR anonymity criteria, and have stated that Aircloak delivers GDPR-level anonymity. As a result, data that is anonymized by Aircloak’s solution will not be constrained by privacy laws or be the subject of penalties when the GDPR comes into effect.[5]
Awards and Funding[edit]
In 2014, Aircloak won the Cisco Internet of Things Security Grand Challenge.[6] They spent 2015-2016 as Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence.[7]
In April 2017 they secured an investment round of USD 1.3M with Speedinvest and Constantia New Business.[8]
