Akhil Ennamsetty

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Akhil Ennamsetty studied Human Rights at Edinburgh Law School. [1]

He was nominated for the Being Edinburgh 2021 award of The University of Edinburgh, but did not win it. [2]

Akhil Ennamsetty of India is the youngest foreign council member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.[citation needed]

In March 2020 Akhil flew from Scotland to India, going straight to a hospital without any symptoms. Still, he was one of the first people to be diagnosed with COVID-19 in India. He was the 16th person to recover. When the hospital asked him to donate plasma - for plasma therapy - he went 150 km from Warangal to the hospital in Hyderabad and was shocked to learn that he was the only one following the call. This led him to set up a website that helped match patients with plasma donations. As the number of patients was far greater than the number of donors, it gave birth to a plasma-trade makeing it available for the one who paid the highest price. Akhil campaigned to establish a State-run plasmabank which them broke the link between patients and donors in India, improving treatment possibilities for everyone. [3]
